Widely used textbook co-authored by COE dean reaches 7th edition

Human Kinetics Publishers recently released the seventh edition of Research Methods in Physical Activity, co-authored by Dr. Jerry R. Thomas, dean of the University of North Texas College of Education. The text is used in more than 70 percent of U.S. institutions that teach a first graduate research methods course in physical activity and has been translated into Chinese (twice), Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek and Italian (twice). 

The book, first published in 1985, was co-authored by Jack K. Nelson and Stephen J. Silverman. 

Thomas, first author, has been professor of Kinesiology and dean of the UNT College of Education since 2008. Prior to that he was professor and chair of kinesiology at Iowa State University, Arizona State University and Louisiana State University. He has published more than 300 papers, book chapters and books during his career.
