New Associate Dean for Educator Preparation

Congratulations to Dr. Amanda Vickery for being appointed as Associate Dean for Educator Preparation in the UNT College of Education!

Dr. Vickery is an associate professor in the Department of Teacher Education and Administration, and for the past several years, she has served as Associate Chair for Initial Preparation. She participated in the revision to and implementation of the new education major and has been a leader in the many adjustments that have improved it since its launch. An experienced teacher and accomplished researcher in Teacher Education and Social Studies Education, Dr. Vickery has also worked in teacher education programs at Arizona State University and the University of Texas at Austin.

As Associate Dean, Dr. Vickery will supervise the Educator Preparation Office, will manage UNT’s relationship to the Texas Education Agency for all certification categories, will participate in statewide policy work as UNT’s representative, and will represent the university in its relationship to school districts and other partners in the preparation of educators. She will also work closely with the faculty in all certification programs across the college and university to reach for excellence and create better futures.
