KHPR students awarded grants for research on alcohol and exercise

Ron Budnar and Anthony Duplanty, teaching fellows in the Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation, were awarded research grants from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Budnar received $5,000 for his research that examines the hormonal response to acute ethanol ingestion following a bout of heavy resistance exercise in women. Duplanty received nearly $10,000 to further investigate the effects of alcohol consumption following exercise on physiology involved in protein synthesis and muscle growth.

Both students' major professor is Dr. Jakob Langberg Vingren, associate professor in Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation, and recent recipient of the NSCA’s Journal of Strength Conditioning Research Editorial Excellence Award.
