Admission to Teacher Education

The following process must be completed prior to enrolling in any teacher education course:

  • Students will need to be admitted to Teacher Education (TED).

  • Undergraduate students are encouraged to make an appointment with a COE advisor to complete the Teacher Education Application. Post-Baccalaureate students should contact their program for information on applying to Teacher Education.

  • Teacher Education Applications may be downloaded online:

TED Form for Interdisciplinary Studies Students (Grades EC-6 or 4-8th)
TED Form for All Level and Secondary Education Students
TED Form for TNT Students - Please contact the TNT Advisor

Students applying to Teacher Education are required to complete the UNT Teacher Education Admission Interview Qestionnaire through Foliotek. For directions on how to complete the admission questionnaire online, please click here

Please contact the Student Advising Office to determine the current appropriate scores on the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators Exams (Reading - 5712, Mathematics - 5732, Writing - 5722), or SAT, or ACT Test for the purposes of Teacher Education Admission.

Students who meet all requirements should schedule an advising appointment with a COE Advisor and bring all application materials, including a completed application form, to the appointment to be admitted to the Teacher Education program. Appointments can be scheduled in person at the Student Advising Office in Matthews Hall Room 105 or over the phone at 940-565-2736. Following processing by a COE Advisor, students who meet admission requirements will receive a formal offer of admission. This offer must be accepted within 72 hours to complete the admission process.

Once students have been admitted into Teacher Education, they are eligible to register for teacher education courses. Please call the Student Advising Office at 940-565-2736 if you get a message stating that you are blocked when trying to register for education courses.
