Superintendent Certification Programs

UNT offers two paths to Superintendent Certification: the UNT/Hilltop Holdings Superintendent Certification with face-to-face classes, or the UNT Online Superintendent Certification Program.

UNT/Hilltop Holdings Superintendent Certification

School leaders in our public schools are challenged to provide new educational opportunities for all students while solving critical problems that face our society. The rapid growth and shifting demographics of the North Texas population and economy accentuate the need to embrace diversity and promote opportunities for all. Our school and community leaders must be prepared and supported by the finest public research universities to solve the crisis in education. Educational opportunities for students lie with the schools, and the effectiveness of these schools depends largely on the educational leadership developed in this program.  This program partners with the Region 10 Education Service Center to provide a yearlong administrative internship for the participants in this certification program.  The classes are face-to-face and are taught at Region 10 in Richardson, Texas.

The UNT/Hilltop Holdings Superintendent Certification Program provides high-quality, research-based preparation for top school leaders. The individuals tapped into this Superintendency certification program by their mentor superintendents will have approximately half of their tuition reimbursed by a Hilltop Holdings scholarship when they pass the courses. Participants in the UNT/Hilltop Holdings Superintendent Certification Program may decide to apply to the UNT doctoral program in Educational Leadership, with which it is closely linked. Twelve of the fifteen hours of the certification coursework can be applied toward the degree.
