Gwenn Pasco |  Senior Assistant Dean for Educator Certification and Undergraduate Programs

Dr. Gwenn Pasco, the Senior Assistant Dean for Educator Certification and Undergraduate Programs, came to the College of Education at the University of North Texas from New York City. She was born in the Bronx, NYC and grew up on Long Island in New York. Having worked as a Dean of the Junior Class, an Associate Dean of Students, a Director of Residence Life and Housing, and affiliated faculty having taught Higher Education in a number of universities, she has a solid background in both academic and student affairs and the integration of both disciplines.  Her philosophy of developmental student advising is that it is a partnership between a student and advisor, the purpose of which is to develop an educational plan compatible with life goals. In her free time, Dr. P enjoys sketching, painting and inventing, and she is a long-standing Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Tonja Selman | Administrative Coordinator II

I began working at the Student Advising Office in October of 2015 in the TExES Advising Office and have recently had the pleasure of becoming the Office Manager. I have over 11 years of experience and thoroughly enjoy being a part of helping students reach their goals. I spent four years in beautiful Idaho as the Administrative Assistant for Special Services at the Aberdeen School District.   It is great to be back in Texas and back at the University of North Texas where previously I was the accounting clerk in the Pohl Recreation Center for many years.  I enjoy spending free time with family and friends at home or traveling.  

Jill Denniston | Certification and Graduation Coordinator

Jill joined the University of North Texas in 2010 after completing her bachelor’s degree from the College of Education. She currently serves as the Certification Specialist for the college and coordinates the COE undergraduate graduation ceremonies. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, reading, doing arts and crafts, and spending time with her family and friends.

Renee Foster | Recruiter

Renée M. Foster, Recruiter Specialist, came to the University of North Texas, College of Education from New York City. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Human Resource Management from the City University of New York Lehman College. Prior to her transition to UNT College of Education she has worked in Higher Education for six years at Lehman College and Baruch College in their admission office as a College Assistant, Transfer Evaluator and Admissions Advisor. In her spare time, Renee enjoys reading, dancing, spontaneous adventures and spending time with friends and family.

Victoria Merkle| Administrative Specialist IV

The College of Education Student Advising Office has been my home away from home since March of 2010 when I began as a student assistant. Now as an Administrative Specialist I am charged with a variety of tasks including purchasing, pay roll, and front desk operations.  I enjoy helping our students navigate their academic careers and spend my free time playing with my dog, Lyla, and enjoying the outdoors.

John Bellon| Assistant Director

I am a native Louisianan and moved to Texas to pursue my bachelor’s degree. In 2009, I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from Dallas Baptist University. Then, I became a member of the UNT community in 2011. I earned my Master of Education in Higher Education degree in May 2013, at which time, I joined the College of Education Student Advising Office.
