Admission to the Teacher Education Program

The following process must be completed prior to enrolling in any teacher education course:

  • Students will need to be admitted to the Teacher Education (TEd) Program.

  • Undergraduate students are encouraged to make an appointment with a COE advisor to complete the TEd Program application. Post-Baccalaureate students should contact their program for information on applying to the TEd Program.

  • Teacher Education Program applications may be downloaded online:

Interdisciplinary Studies Students (Grades EC-6 and 4-8) TEd Program application.
Secondary and All-Level (non-TNT) Education Students TEd Program application.
Teach North Texas (TNT) Students - Please contact the TNT advisor for the appropriate TEd Program application.

Students applying to the TEd Program are required to complete the UNT Teacher Education Admission Interview Qestionnaire through Foliotek. For directions on how to complete the admission questionnaire online, please click here

Please contact the Student Advising Office to determine the current appropriate ACT, SAT, or TSI Test for the purposes of Teacher Education Admission.

Students who meet all requirements should schedule an advising appointment with a COE Advisor and bring all application materials, including a completed application form, to the appointment to be admitted to the TEd Program. Appointments can be scheduled in person at the Student Advising Office in Matthews Hall Room 105 or over the phone at 940-565-2736. Following processing by a COE Advisor, students who meet admission requirements will receive a formal offer of admission. This offer must be accepted within 72 hours to complete the admission process.

Some teacher education courses require admission to the TEd Program. Once students are admitted into the TEd Program and if you get a message during course registration indicating that you are blocked when trying to register for education courses, please call the Student Advising Office at 940-565-2736.
