Teacher Education and Administration faculty Rossana Boyd, Ricardo Gonzalez-Carriedo, and Miriam Ezzani will develop new courses for the online Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with concentration in bilingual and ESL Education degree program. The web-based delivery will allow EC-12 teachers to pursue an advanced degree while continuing to work full-time.

The content of the new courses includes leadership in bilingual and ESL education, diversity, foundations of bilingual and ESL education, and methods for teaching biliteracy

"We look forward to dedicating time this summer to develop the courses," said Dr. Rossana Boyd, principal lecturer and director of the bilingual/ESL teacher certification programs. "We will include cutting edge information and feature innovative technology to provide students a high quality learning experience."

The course development is made possible with $20,000 awarded to the three faculty members under the Learning Enhancement Grant (LEG) program.  The LEG program is an annual, competitive grant sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The program is administered by UNT's Center for Learning Enhancement, Assessment, and Redesign (CLEAR). The program supports the development of online and blended learning courses and programs that meet the Quality Matters national standards for online course design. Since its inception in 2009, the LEG program has supported the development of several innovative course offerings to further UNT's mission and Four Bold Goals.
