College hosts career advancement workshop for aspiring educators

Over the summer, the college's Educational Administration program hosted a workshop for UNT students and alumni aspiring to be principals and superintendents. John Brooks, principal lecturer in the department of Teacher Education and Administration, spearheaded the workshop. Topics and speakers included:

Butch Felkner,
director, Texas Association of School Boards; Executive Search Services

"National Searches, What to Expect"
Linus Wright,
former undersecretary of education under President Reagan and former Dallas ISD superintendent

"The Resume That Gets You the Interview, The Interview That Gets You the Job"
Conrad Streeter,
principal of Colleyville Heritage High School

The workshop provided participants with:

  • face-to-face meeting time with top educational recruiting firms from Texas
  • tips for building a quality electronic portfolio
  • resume building and interviewing skills
  • networking opportunities
  • tips on marketing yourself for an administrator position
