Autism Recognition & Response Training Workshop to be held on campus August 16

International expert Dennis Debbaudt will provide a four-hour training session on autism pre-escalation techniques, broad based development, communication and socialization skills, victimization and harassment, dilemmas, safety risks, recognition, response and law enforcement safety strategies. The workshop will also feature a Community Autism Professionals Panel Q&A session that will include the UNT Autism Center’s Executive Director Kevin Callahan and Associate Executive Director Heather Hughes.

The Autism Recognition and Response Training Workshop is Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Wooten Hall room 122.

The workshop will be hosted by the UNT Autism Center in collaboration with 4u Academy, the UNT Police Department, the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, and the Texas Autism Research and Resource Consortium.

The event is free and open to the public, and it may be of special interest to law enforcement, EMS, nurses, doctors, dentists, social services providers, parents, child care workers and educators.
