Alumna named Rookie of the Year teacher at local high school

Congrats to Teach North Texas and College of Education alumna Kailan Kinkel Bell ('12) on being named Rookie of the Year and recipient of the ACE award at Creekview High School in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, where she teaches Algebra. Trish Jones, veteran math teacher and Bell's campus mentor, sent this message to UNT to share the good news:

"I just wanted to send a note to tell you about the awards Kailan received today at our faculty luncheon. (I know she won't toot her own horn, so I am!) She was given the 'Rookie of the Year' award from the administration and the ACE award from the Math Department! ACE stands for Attitude, Coach-ability and Enthusiasm. She definitely exemplifies all of those qualities. Additionally, our 9th grade Algebra team was given the Most Effective Professional Development Team award! I think this was awarded to our team because our STAAR EOC scores far surpassed those of the other high schools in our district this year. Kailan is a big factor in that success!

I know I've told you in emails before how impressed I am with Kailan and how fortunate I have felt to have her on our team this year. I thought you'd also like to know has much she is also appreciated by our math department and by our administration. We just LOVE her!"
