Autism Intervention (GAC-AUTI)

The Graduate Academic Certificate in Autism requires 18 graduate level hours. Admission to the program requires an application to the Toulouse Graduate School, selecting "GAC-AUTI" as the program of study. All coursework must be completed within four years. No credit applied to a previously awarded master’s degree can be applied toward this GAC. All courses are currently delivered online.

Applications for Project STArT support are now being accepted for the Fall 2017 semester.

Admission Requirements

1) Meet the requirements for admission and apply to the Toulouse Graduate School. You can apply online through ApplyTexas.
2) Submit the following items to the department:
  • Current resume or CV;
  • One letter of recommendation; must be on letterhead, include contact information, and be signed.
  • Program Application.

3) After completion of coursework, fill out the verification form and send to Dr. Mehta. This is what will be used to order the certificate.

Course Requirements for Certificate (applicant must meet course prerequisites, if any)

EDSP 5310 - Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders (3 hours)
EDSP 5330 - Classroom and Behavioral Management Strategies for Exceptional Learners (3 hours)
EDSP 5340 - Teaching Students with High-Functioning Autism (3 hours)
EDSP 5350 - Educational Programming for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (3 hours)
EDSP 5360 - Assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (3 hours)


A student who is not seeking a degree or certification must be aware that a maximum of 12 semester hours earned prior to admission to a degree program may be counted toward degree requirements, if you decide to seek a master's degree or certification later.
