A collaborative and transformative community engaged in exemplary research, education
and service that benefit the professions of counseling and higher education
The Department of Counseling and Higher Education promotes human development through
education, research and service that advance the professions of, and scholarship in,
counseling and higher education.
Counseling Programs
The Counseling Program is a student-centered program that models healthy relationships
and pursues a collective purpose based on the values of transparency, integrity, and
community engagement. Through maintaining and building on current strengths, the program
cultivates leaders who positively impact clients, students and the counseling profession—and,
thereby, all humanity.
The Higher Education Program provides education and professional development for
individuals who serve or will serve as administrators, faculty, and scholars in higher
education institutions, governmental agencies, policy or research centers, and professional
associations that conduct postsecondary education in the United States and globally.
