Director's Welcome

Thank you for visiting the website of the Bill J. Priest Center for Community College Education and for your interest in our center. Established to honor the legacy and work of the founding chancellor of the Dallas County Community College District, the Center is dedicated to furthering the goals and ambitions of future community college leaders.

As part of the University of North Texas and the UNT Higher Education Program the Center is actively engaged in quality instruction and research that advances the understanding of community colleges, community college students, and community college leadership. We are dedicated to serving the community of two-year colleges through encouraging the professional growth and development of graduate students who aspire to careers in these institutions. In addition, our aim is to create a bridge of understanding between two-year and four-year institutions, and to improve practice through exploration of ideas and issues that these institutions share, such as transfer, persistence, and student engagement.

The post-baccalaureate Community College Leadership Certificate and the Community College Cognate, as part of the doctoral degree program, are two instructional avenues through which students can increase their understanding of the community college and enhance their opportunities for leadership within these vital higher education institutions. If you are interested in these opportunities or receiving more information about the Bill J. Priest Center for Community College Education, please contact me.

Please feel free to contact me at if you would like to set up an appointment to talk about the program.
