North Star of Texas Writing Project
A National Writing Project site, the NSTWP works to enhance writing instruction throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and North Texas area. The North Star of Texas Writing Project sponsors a wide range of activities for Teacher Consultants, as well as experienced and beginning teachers throughout north Texas. The NSTWP Summer Institute annually serves 12-20 Fellows who leave the Institute as NSTWP Teacher Consultants, ready to take leadership roles in their districts and beyond.
GOALS
- To expand the use of writing across multiple disciplines in K-16 classrooms.
- To promote the use of writing and writing instruction to address issues of equity and diversity in north central Texas schools.
- To support the expanded use of theoretically sound, research-based writing instruction in K-16 classrooms in north central Texas.
- To provide support for the development of teacher leadership related to literacy instruction.
- To develop a vibrant learning community among literacy teachers and teacher researchers.
