Clinics, Centers, and Projects

Center for the Study of Education Reform - Conducts policy research on selected school reform issues and disseminates research findings to policy makers and educators, concentrated on investigations of educational policy and curricular and instructional innovations intended to promote academic success of traditionally marginalized student populations.

Dallas Xtreem Science and Mathematics Institutes - Provides professional development to Dallas ISD teachers in the areas of Algebra I and Geometry and Middle School Science and Biology in collaboration with faculty from Texas Woman's University and Midwestern State University.

North Star of Texas Writing Project - A local site of the National Writing Project, offering high-quality professional development programs for educators in their service areas, at all grade levels K-16 and across all content areas.

Teach North Texas - An undergraduate secondary mathematics and science teacher education program modeled on the successful UTeach Program at UT-Austin. Teach North Texas will prepare at least 60 math, science, and computer science teachers a year.

Texas Leadership Cooperative - A superintendent certification program available to administrators. A special feature of the program is the Southwest Securities Superintendent Scholarship Fund, which has been funded with $1 million from Southwest Securities, Inc.

Child Development Laboratory - An early childhood program serving primarily as a research center and training site for students in the fields of early childhood education, child development, and play therapy while providing a high quality preschool program and serving as a model to others in the metroplex as well as the state.

Meadows Endowed Chair Initiatives - The mission of the Meadows Chair for Excellence in Education is to build on the strengths of the University of North Texas in development of partnerships to promote learning of K-12 students through educator preparation and development.

Velma Schmidt Endowed Chair Research Initiatives - Conducts critical research, collaborates with other critical social scientists, and disseminates research that focuses on increased social justice and equity for younger human beings.
