Hilltop Securities/UNT Superintendent Certification
School leaders in our public schools are challenged to provide new educational opportunities for all students while solving critical problems that our society faces. The rapid growth and shifting demographics of the North Texas population and economy accentuate the need to embrace diversity and promote opportunities for all. Our leaders must be prepared and supported by the finest public research universities to solve the crisis in education. Educational opportunities for students lie with the schools, and the effectiveness of these schools depends largely on the kind of educational leadership developed in this program.
The Hilltop Securities/UNT Program provides high-quality, research-based preparation for top school leaders. The individuals tapped into this superintendency program by their mentor superintendents will have approximately half of their tuition reimbursed by a Hilltop Securities scholarship when they pass the courses. Participants in the Superintendent Certification Program may decide to apply to the doctoral program in Educational Leadership, with which it is closely linked. Twelve hours of the certification coursework can be applied to the degree.
Applicants must meet the following qualifications to apply for the program:
- The applicant must be tapped into the program by the district superintendent (or his or her designee).
- The applicant must have a minimum of two years' teaching experience in an EC-12 public or private school. Administrative experience is also required prior to beginning the program.
