Did you know that in the past five years, over 4,000 UNT students have been trained to teach or become school administrators in the state of Texas? This is largely due to the instruction and guidance of the Department of Teacher Education and Administration (TE&A). TE&A offers undergraduate and graduate programs to develop highly competent teachers, school administrators, and other specialists who wish to provide educational leadership to organizations. Effective instruction, curriculum development, and evaluation are emphasized in all programs. Students use current theory and research to make decisions about effective practice. The department also strives to improve practice through generation after generation of new knowledge and through service to educational institutions, government agencies, and practioners at all levels.

The TE&A department is very proud of its alumni. Most recently, Sherry Colby won the award for "Dissertation of the Year in Teaching for the American Association for Curriculum and Instruction (2007-2008)."

Sherri is a graduate of our Curriculum and Instruction Doctoral program and graduated in October 2007. Dr. Wilhelm was her major professor. Congratulations, Sherri!
