I graduated from UNT in August 2003 with a double major in Finance and Logistics. I moved to Denton in 1996 and have had the opportunity to work for several departments here at UNT: Police and Traffic, Registrar’s Office, and Center for Distributed Learning. I joined the College of Education Student Advising Office in October 2003, and am pleased to have the opportunity to give back to the UNT community. In my spare time I enjoy participating in several sports. I play tennis on occasion, and have played Denton City League Baseball since October 2001. I am also at every UNT football game, and an occasional basketball game. I enjoy traveling, and have had the opportunity to visit most of the US and Europe, as well as the Middle East and West Africa.

Greetings and salutations to all the Mean Green faithful. It is really a pleasure to be back in Denton having returned from the University of Kansas with my bachelors degree in history. Working in the College of Education fits me well since I have five years experience as a teacher and coach in the Texas public school system. On a more personal level I am an avid college football and basketball fan, "Rock Chalk Jayhawk" and "Go Mean Green". I love the outdoors particularly river rafting and fishing or just camping out in New Mexico.

I am a Native Texan, having been born and raised in Corpus Christi (Flour Bluff, to be exact). Upon graduating from high school, I left for college life and the DFW metroplex as soon as I could pack up my old car. Four years later, I earned my B.A. in Social Work from UT Arlington. I also have 42 graduate credit hours in Applied Gerontology from UNT, where I now call my home away from home (Student Advisory Office). I have been on the team of advisors in the EC – 8 th grade area since August 2007.
My husband and I have three adult children, two of whom are college students. We live on a 3-acre property with a giant golden retriever and a chocolate lab who keep up company. We love to travel to new and interesting places whenever our family has the opportunity to be together. I also enjoy reading, walking, quilting, and country-western dancing. We are excited about our daughter’s upcoming wedding in October 2009, which has top priority at the moment.
I have a very special place in my heart for college students, and I love working with them to achieve their goals. My goal is to help them navigate through their college careers in a timely fashion to achieve their teacher certification. I recommend scheduling advising sessions every semester --- just to avoid any pitfalls or roadblocks that tend to come along whenever we aren’t paying attention to the road ahead. I strive to live my mantra everyday, which is “The journey is the reward.” Call your advisor, today.
