The mission of Project STArT is to professionally prepare qualified special education teachers to work with students with ASD. The goal is to integrate knowledge, skills and competencies from three interdisciplinary areas including autism, special education and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Program scholars will receive a master's degree in special education and receive intensive one-to-one, on-the-job coaching and clinical supervision (in the context of three ASD courses) at their employment site at no cost to the scholar.

In addition to coursework and on-the-job coaching, scholars will also receive instructional materials and professional training through presentations from a distinguished expert in the field, the Texas Autism Conference, and a day-long workshop designed to synthesize and integrate the delivery and evaluation of services for students with ASD.
