Teacher Certification

For undergraduates, the Department of Teacher Education and Administration offers a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, which is a program intended to lead to teaching certification in Texas. The College of Education offers prospective teachers a well-designed program that is nationally accredited by CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation). It provides multiple opportunities for field experience in public schools through a collaborative Professional Development School (PDS) model, and an option to become certified for ESL or bilingual education along with a grade-level and/or content-area focus.

Early Childhood through Grade 6 (Elementary Education)

The Department of Teacher Education and Administration offers a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, which is a program intended to lead to teaching certification in Texas. Programs for teaching Early Childhood through Grade 6 (EC-6) are offered in the following certification areas: Core Subjects, Core Subjects with Bilingual Supplemental Certification, Core Subjects with ESL Supplemental Certification, and Core Subjects with Special Education EC-12 Certification.

Undergraduate Admissions are handled through University of North Texas Admissions.

Grades 4 through 8 (Middle School Education)

Programs for teaching Grades 4 through 8 (4-8) are offered in the following certification areas: English Language Arts/Reading with ESL, Mathematics with ESL, Science with ESL, and Social Studies with ESL.
