Supplementary Certification - Master Reading Teacher

This post-baccalaureate supplementary certification program is designed for individuals who hold a valid Teacher Certificate. This is a 12-hour program equivalent to four courses.

Admission Requirements

1) Bachelor's degree
2) Current Texas teacher certificate
3) Three years of successful classroom teaching experience in an accredited school

Course Requirements for Certificate (12 hours)

EDRE 5180 - Advanced Assessment and Evaluation in Reading (3 hours)
EDRE 5200 -
Development and Supervision of Reading Programs (3 hours)
EDRE 5370 -
Advanced Reading Theory/Practice (3 hours)
EDEC 5653 -
Making the Literacy Connection: Language to ReadingĀ (3 hours)

To attain the teaching certificate, candidates must complete all course work, attain passing scores on the appropriate state examination, and make application and pay fees to TEA for the certificate.
