KHPR, DFST students take advantage of Career Center opportunities

Many students attended the Career Center's Development and Family Studies Career & Resource Fair on October 16. Rosalyn Smith, UNT Career Advisor for the College of Education, organized the event and worked closely with Heather Allen, instructor for DFST practicum students.

DFST FairOrganizations shared practicum, internship, full-time and part-time opportunities. DFST students learned more about their major and career opportunities available after graduation. The Career Center also hosted a Sports Professional Panel for students majoring in Kinesiology, Health Promotions and Recreation and Leisure Studies (KHPR), moderated by Doryce Judd, on October 16.

Sports PanelProfessionals from the field discussed job and internship opportunities. They also shared interviewing and resume writing tips, as well as advice on landing opportunities within their organizations. Rosalyn Smith, UNT Career Advisor for the College of Education, hosted this event and worked closely with faculty in the College of Education to plan the panel discussion. Special thanks to Nancy Eanes and Lee Ancona for their help with this event.

  • Emily Dickens, Marketing Coordinator, Texas Motor Speedway and UNT alumna
  • George Deines, Aquatics/Athletics Manager, City of Garland and UNT alum
  • Mark Franklin, Former Baseball Operations Manager-UT Austin, current College Recruiter with Multiview
  • Dwayne Clarke, Health & Wellness Coordinator, Verizon
  • Ben Hanisian, Assistant Director, Outdoor Pursuits, UNT Recreational Sports

Students networked with employers after the panel discussion, and  Verizon Wireless and Texas Motor Speedway had internship opportunities to discuss with attendees.
