Grants awarded to Drs. Harrell, Eddy and Keller

Dr. Pam Harrell and Dr. Colleen Eddy, Associate Professors in Teacher Education and Administration, were awarded a $494,499 grant for their Ft. Worth/Dallas Xtreem Science and Mathematics Institute from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and one sub-contract grant for $32,747 from Texas Christian University to create concept maps for use with Algebra and 8th grade science teachers.

Dr. Jean Keller, Acting Dean of the Mayborn School of Journalism and Professor in Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation, was awarded a grant to increase the access for minority males to enter allied health career tracks. This $399,663 two-year award comes from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and is designed to "close the gaps" by increasing the awareness of allied health professions among African American and Hispanic (minority) males and increasing the number of minority males who become licensed physical therapists (DPT). The UNT Health Science Center, Tarrant County College and TruCare Solutions will partner with UNT’s College of Education on this grant.
