Current and former students published in autism, counseling journals

Karin Kliemann submitted a student's perspective and critique of a published article as part of Dr. Smita Mehta's Advanced Studies in Autism course last spring. Her letter to the editor was published in the Journal of Autism Development Disorders (IF: 3.348). Kliemann is a special education doctoral student in the autism concentration of the Educational Psychology department.

Current and former counseling students Kristen Meany-Walen, Kara Carnes-Holt, Katherine Purswell and Yulia Pronchenko-Jain and Dr. Casey Barrio Minton, Associate Professor in Counseling and Higher Education and Counseling Program Coordinator, submitted an exploration of counselors' professional leadership development to the Journal of Counseling & Development. This mixed-method study was funded by a grant from Chi Sigma Iota International, conducted by student leaders of our chapter of Chi Sigma Iota and accepted for publication in the counseling profession's most prestigious journal in April 2013. Drs. Meany-Walen and Carnes-Holt graduated from the counseling doctoral program in 2010, Dr. Pronchenko-Jain received her degree in 2012 and Ms. Purswell is a 3rd year doctoral student.
