UNT offers a Graduate Academic Certificate in Gifted and Talented Education (GACT-GATE). The GACT-GATE certificate is not the same as Texas teacher certification - although the courses do prepare a person to sit for the Texas examination for supplemental certification in gifted education by the state. When completed this Graduate Academic Certificates is listed on the students' official transcripts.
First complete the standard Graduate School admission process for either domestic or international students:
(1) Fill out a application through www.applytexas.org ;
(2) Have all of your transcripts sent to the UNT Graduate School all transcripts from your previous academic work.
No standardized examinations (e.g., the GRE) are required for admission to Graduate Academic Certificate.
The courses leading to the GACT-GATE are the same courses as the specialization area or several masters and doctoral degrees. Admission to a degree program does not automatically provide admission to the GACT-GATE program. Students in masters programs with a gifted specialization and who would like to earn the GACT-GATE must submit an Application for Concurrent Graduate Academic Certificate Programs The following notes apply:
