National Society for the Gifted and Talented
The National Society for the Gifted & Talented (NSGT) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) foundation committed to creating an organization of gifted and talented (GT) K-12 student members. It will celebrate and advance the abilities and potential of those currently identified and work to identify more students who are traditionally underrepresented in GT programs.
The goal of the NSGT is to develop a society where more GT children and youth can expect to find information and opportunities that directly relate to, and cultivate, their abilities and desires to achieve at a high level.

The Association for the Gifted was organized as a division of The Council for Exceptional Children in 1958 to help both professionals and parents deal more effectively with the gifted child.
TAGT: Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented
The Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented is the largest advocacy group for gifted children in the world. TAGT has a major conference each fall which has special parents sessions and many regular sessions parents would enjoy. They also have a parenting division which offers much help to parents and in starting parent support groups. TAGT also gives numerous scholarships to students to attend summer gifted programs.

Young Scholars Program
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation
Scholarships for gifted youngsters (rising 8th graders) throughout the country. The link will provide more information for the sponsoring center in your region. Beginning the summer before ninth grade, scholars receive individualized educational services. If scholars maintain high achievement, financial support continues throughout high school. Services may include summer studies participation, academic counseling, distance learning materials, or other services intended to maximize student potential. Rising eighth grade students from low to moderate income families are eligible. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding academic ability, leadership skills, motivation to learn and to achieve, and extracurricular talents.
The University of North Texas provides testing services.

Individual intelligence testing (with use of the Stanford-Binet LM for those who approach the ceiling of the Stanford Binet 5 or WISC-4 which are given first)
