Students interested in gifted education start the process of taking gifted courses from UNT by applying to and be accepted into the UNT Texas Graduate School.  Applicants must complete the admissions process by the deadline for the semester they intend to begin classes. Application deadlines are available in the Graduate Catalog, or from the University Calendar.

There are several paths available regarding admission to the Graduate School:

• Graduate Academic Certificate - Gifted and Talented (GACT-GATE) student  This option does not require GRE scores. You can reapply later as a master's student, submit GRE scores, and use the courses in several masters plans. It is possible to complete a GACT-GATE and a master's or doctoral degree simultaneously. • Masters student  It is possible to specialize in gifted and talented in the Masters of Science in Educational Psychology, the Masters of Education in Special Education, and the Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. The Educational Psychology degree is 100% online. The masters requires you submit appropriate GRE scores plus program application materials.
• Doctoral student in A minor area in gifted and talented is available in the PhD in Curriculum and Instruction. The masters requires you submit appropriate GRE scores plus program application materials.
