Student Teaching & Early Field EXPERIENCE
Important Dates Fall 2009 Semester
August
- August 19 – Student Teacher Orientation – 8:00 to 11:30 AM., Lyceum, 3rd floor of the University Union (meet with supervisor after Orientation).All Fall 2009 Student Teachers must attend this orientation meeting. Registration/Check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m.
- August 27, 2009 UNT Classes and student teaching begin. Student Teachers report to your first/only rotation mentor teacher. ATTN: Some districts may have a slightly different start date.
September
- September 14 – PDS/Post-bac EFE Information Meeting, Wooten Hall 322, 1:00 p.m. (All candidates for PDS 1 in Spring 2010)
- September 17—PDS/ Post-bac EFE Information Meeting, Wooten Hall 212, 8:00 a.m. (All candidates for PDS 1 in Spring 2010)
- September 23 –PDS/ Post-bac EFE Information Meeting, Wooten Hall 222, 4:00 p.m. (All candidates for PDS 1 in Spring 2010)
- September 19-PDS Information Meeting, UNT DALLAS, Room TBD, 10:00 a.m. (All candidates for PDS 1 in Spring 2010)
- September 23-PDS Information Meeting, UNT DALLAS, 6:00 p.m.(All candidates for PDS 1 in Spring 2010)
- September 14 through October 16 Applications will be taken for Student Teaching and all Early Field Experience for Spring 2010. All applications will be done online. PDS 1 students must have attended one of the Information meetings listed above. The applications will be done by logging into TK20. Information about the application process is posted on www.coe.unt.edu/field-experience.
- Secondary Students NOTE!!!-There are no information meetings scheduled for Spring 2010 EDSE 4840 student observers or Student Teachers. Please watch the appropriate video listed under the links on the left hand side of this page. The video is mostly correct, but the information about where and how to apply will be posted on the main webpage for Field-Ec\xperience which is www.coe.unt.edu/field-experience. If you have questions after watching the video, you can contact Dr. Kelly Ritchie about EDSE 4840 at Kelly.Ritchie@unt.edu or Dr. Jo Murphy about student teaching at Jo.Murphy@unt.edu.
October
- October 16 – Deadline for Student Teacher and Early Field Applications for Spring 2010. Applications will not be available after the 16th. If you need to apply for either student teaching or early field experience for the Spring 2010 semester, it will not be possible after Oct., 16th. Please contact Dr. Jo Murphy at 940-565-3589. No late applications will be taken.
November
- November 13, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM - UNT/TWU Fall Educational Career Day held at TWU in Pioneer Hall. All student teachers are expected to attend the Career Day and are dismissed from student teaching duties. If you DO NOT attend Career Day, you MUST report to your student teaching assignment.
December
- December 11 – End of Student Teaching/Early Field/PDS 1 & 2
- December 16 – Student Teacher Reception 7:00 p.m. Gateway Ballroom. We would like to honor our student teachers, mentor teachers and University Supervisors with a reception.
- December 18 & 19 - Graduation

January
- January 13, 2010 – Student Teacher Orientation – 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Lyceum, 3rd floor of the University Union. All Spring 2010 Student Teachers (no PDS 1 or EFE students) must attend this orientation meeting. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m.
- January 19, 2010 Classes and student teaching begin. Student Teachers report to your first rotation mentor teacher
February
- February 6th –PDS Information Meeting, UNT Dallas Campus 10:00 a.m., Room TBA
- February 8th – PDS Information Meeting, Matthews Hall 311, 1:00 p.m.
- February 10th—PDS Information Meeting, UNT Dallas Campus 10:00 a.m. Room 308
- February 11th—PDS Information Meeting, Wooten Hall 322, 8:00 a.m.
- February 11th –PDS Information Meeting, UNT Dallas Campus 6:30 p.m., Room 236
- February 13th – PDS Information Meeting, Matthews Hall 311 10:00 a.m.
- February 17th –PDS Information Meeting, Wooten Hall 122, 4:00 p.m.
- February 8th through February 27th Applications will be taken for Student Teaching, Field Experience for Fall 2010. Applications will be taken through TK20. There will be information posted on the www.coe.unt.edu/field-experience main page about this process.
- February 27th – Deadline for All Field Experience applications, (PDS 1, PDS 2, Secondary Student Teaching, EDSE 4840, KINES 3160, Elementary Post-bac Early Field Experience and Student Teaching) for Fall 2010. Applications will not be available after the 27th. If you need to apply for either student teaching or early field experience for the Fall 2009 semester, it may not be possible after this date.
