Behavioral Specialist Certificate

The Behavioral Specialist Certificate is designed for individuals who have completed the master’s degree program in the area of emotional/behavioral disorders and who desire to provide services to students with behavioral challenges (e.g., classroom teachers, behavioral consultant, crisis intervention teacher).
  

Admission Requirements for Certificate:

  1. Successfully complete a master’s degree program in emotional/behavioral disorders.
  2. Meet the requirements for admission to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies.
  3. Complete and file an application with the Special Education Office indicating the intention to work toward this certificate.
  4. Successfully complete at least one full year as a teacher of students with emotional/ behavioral disorders.

Course Requirements for Certificate (applicant must meet course prerequisites, if any):

  • EDSP 5320 Introduction to Functional Assessment
  • EDSP 5615 Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
  • EDSP 5660 Transition of Youth with E/BD: Issues and Practices
  • EDSP 5684 Seminar on Traumatic Brain Injury - I
