Scholarships

The Program in Higher Education has several scholarships that are awarded once each year. The amount of the scholarships varies depending on available dollars and the number of eligible applicants. Those honored by family and friends through established scholarships are: Dr. Duane Kingery, Greg McQueen, Richard and Joneel Harris, Rod Duchemin, John King, and Richard Rafes.

The Higher Education faculty is currently reviewing the process and the criteria for recipients. Until those revisions are announced the program will follow the existing criteria and process. Applications are due to the Program Coordinator in the Higher Education building in Mean Green Village by April 1. The Scholarship Committee reviews the applications in May for awards to be applied to the following academic year.

To be eligible, Higher Education program students must be currently enrolled and have a 3.4 GPA. Applications are linked to this site. Scholarship presentation

Assistantships

Graduate Assistant and Research Assistant positions are available in the Higher Education Program; however, the number of positions varies. There are no Teaching Assistant positions available because the Higher Education does not have an undergraduate program. Higher Education doctoral students do have the opportunity to apply for Teaching Assistant positions in other programs for which they have a Master's Degree with the required 18 graduate hours in the discipline. Higher Education majors also may apply for GA and RA positions any place in the University. These positions become available throughout the year and are advertised through class announcements, e-mail announcements, and postings in various offices. Most of the positions are part-time with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
