Teaching AbroadComplete your student teaching in Spain or Costa Rica!

The UNT international student teaching abroad program is available to students in elementary, middle, secondary, and all level educator preparation programs. Students are assigned to a teaching site in the DFW Metroplex for the first 8-10 weeks of the semester, and the final weeks of the student teaching experience will be at an overseas site in Seville, Spain or San Jose, Costa Rica. The College of Education will make all arrangements for international teaching assignments and lodging.

Criteria for Acceptance & Participation

  • A minimum 2.5 Cumulative UNT GPA
  • A minimum 2.75 GPA in academic major and educational certification area
  • Application completed in tk20, including two (2) recommendations from faculty (guidelines for recommendations are included on the application form linked below)Teaching Abroad
  • Interview by Selection Committee the semester before program
  • Attendance at ALL orientation(s) during the semester of departure
  • Demonstration of effective performance during student teaching in the US
