The work of the UNT College of Education is to help people live happy, productive lives by improving education and promoting health and human development. To achieve that purpose, the College conducts research and development and prepares practitioners and scholars by:
- Developing and disseminating new knowledge, including research that addresses the problems of practice in a changing world;
- Supporting a multicultural student body and faculty with diverse perspectives, multiple instructional strategies, global experiences, and interdisciplinary endeavors;
- Preparing researchers, scholars, and practitioners to assume leadership roles in their professions; and,
- Promoting service and the ethical standards of the professions.
To achieve this mission, faculty, staff, and students are engaged learners focusing on teaching, research, and service while maintaining a supportive and caring environment. The College emphasizes:
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and inter-organizational partnerships that bring diverse perspectives to problems of research and practice;
- Integration of research experiences in undergraduate and graduate education;

- Multiple instructional strategies, distance learning, and financial assistance to support a diverse student population;
